RH ISTC presented Russia at the 20th Session of the APCTT`s Governing Council
Twentieth Session of the Governing Council of the Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) was organized from 27-28 November, 2024.
The session was attended by representatives from the member countries of the Governing Council, namely delegates from: the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, the Kingdom of Thailand, and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The event was also attended by observers from international organizations and Asia-Pacific countries.
The delegation from the Russian Federation included:
·Dmitry Protasovsky – General Director the RH ISTC.
·Anastasia Ryabukhina, Head of the Center for International Projects and Initiatives, RH ISTC, Coordinator for Cooperation with ESCAP UN.
During the session, experts discussed promising areas of joint activities, reviewed the report on APCTT's activities from December 2023 to November 2024, and adopted decisions on the implementation of the 2025 action plan.
Prior to the session, an international conference on climate-resilient infrastructure technologies was held, bringing together 128 representatives from leading scientific, technical and innovation organizations from 20 ESCAP countries. The Russian side was represented at the conference by Anastasia Ryabukhina, who highlighted the most significant examples of implementing the climate agenda and creating disaster management systems in Russia.

Following elections during the 79th UN ESCAP Commission session, the Russian Federation was elected to the Governing Council of the UN ESCAP Asia-Pacific Centre for Technology Transfer. The Russian House of International Scientific and Technical Cooperation represent Russia in APCTT's governing bodies.
About ESCAP and APCTT:
The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) was established in 1947 to address the economic and social problems of the Asia-Pacific region. ESCAP's main focus includes human resource development, summarizing regional experience and developing international relations, promoting interregional trade and investment, technology transfer, privatization and entrepreneurship, environmental protection, urbanization, poverty reduction, combating drug abuse, population issues, social development and labor migration.
ESCAP is the largest of the five United Nations regional commissions by geographic coverage. ESCAP comprises 53 countries, including the Russian Federation.
In 1977, APCTT was established as a subsidiary body of ESCAP to develop the scientific, technical and innovation capacity of the region. The Centre implements projects, programs and activities for innovation development and technology transfer, funded by member countries and international investors. The Centre promotes technological innovations for sustainable development, nanotechnology, biotechnology based on renewable energy sources to address regional challenges and mitigate climate change impacts.
